清源山风景名胜区是我国历史文化名城泉州市的重要组成部分。是公布的国家重点风景名胜区。它地处福建省东南部，晋江下游东北岸，位于东经l18度30'-118度37'，北纬24度54'-25度O'之间;与发展中的泉州市区三面接壤。距厦门市106公里，福州市196公里。
清源山自然景色秀丽，人文景观绘萃，尤以山上泉眼诸多别称“泉山”，因山高入云称“齐云山”。位于城市北郊又称“北山”，山上有三峰亦称“三台山”。据《泉州府志》记载，清源山最早开发于秦代，中兴于唐代，宋元时期最为鼎盛。经过了历代开发，山上留下了大量文物古迹现存完好的有宋、元时期石雕造像7处9尊，历代摩崖石刻近600多方，元、明两代花岗岩仿木结构的石室多处。最负盛名的宋代老君造像，系全国最大的、艺术价值最高的道教石雕;九日山祈风石刻，是研究我国古代海外交通史和书法艺术的珍贵资料;唐武德年间，穆罕默德门徒三贤、四贤来泉州传教，殁葬于灵山，称圣墓。其旁有郑和第五次下西洋的“行香碑”，为我国海外交通的重要史迹。
清源山风景名胜区属花岗岩地貌的山地丘陵，地势起伏、岩石突兀，主景区最高海拔498米。地质结构是通过多次构造运动和岩体侵人所形成的，岩体外部呈黑褐色，岩层节理不发达，成土因质以坡积物居多，土壤为温润型;年平均气温17度-21.3度C之间,年平均降水量在1202-1550毫米之间，全年无霜期358天;清源山冬暖夏凉，气候温暖湿润，一年四季均适宜观光旅游。

The ancients said: the mountain is not high, there is a fairy name.Qingyuan mountain is also famous for its immortals. 传说当年铁拐李云游到此地的时候，看到这里的景色如此的美丽，乐得他举起了拐杖不停地点地，大呼：妙哉!妙哉!没想到用力过猛，铁杖深入地层数丈，突然就冒出一股清泉，喷射不止。因此，当时第一个发现此泉的人，就把此山命名为“泉山”。此城也因此得名“泉州”。后来有人在泉字上做文章，把山名衍化为“清源山”。山高人云又名“齐云山”;又因地处泉州市北郊又称“北山”;也因山峰鼎峙，又称“三台山”。
清源山景区内流泉飞瀑、奇岩异洞、峰峦叠翠、万木竞秀，以宗教寺庙宫观、文人书院石宝以及石雕石构石刻等文物为主的人文景观几乎遍布清源山的每个角落，现存完好的宋、元时期道教、佛教大型石雕共7处9尊，历代摩崖石刻近500方，元、明、清三代花岗岩仿木结构佛像石室3处，以及近代高憎弘一法师(李叔同)舍利塔和广钦法师塔院。自古以来，清源山就以36洞天，18胜景闻名于世，今天我们时间有限，无法饱览清源山的神韵，只能让大家留点遗憾下次再来。

大家现在看到的是老君岩的山门，这座山门是以牌坊的形式建立的，高12.6米，宽21米。山门顶端有四个云纹望柱头，正中顶部嵌有菱形蓝宝石灯饰，象征清源山为古城明珠，中国名山。而眼前这曲尺型的上下两级平台，是阴阳太极八卦的变型图案，正前耸立的这方天然石头上镌刻着“青牛西去，紫气东来”八个字，还有这石构山门，充满了山野气息，把老子“崇尚自然”的思想烘托得淋漓尽致，使人有种进入物外仙境的感觉。
沿着这条幽静的林荫石径往前，植物界巨人一榕树分立两侧，气派非凡。那一丛丛既密又长的树根，有如老子的长髯，昭示出老子的思想“天长地久“，无限生机。
各位朋友，现在，展现在我们面前的这尊石雕，就是有“老子天下第一”美誉的老君造像。老君造像被列为全国重点保护文物，是我国道教石刻中独一无二的艺术瑰宝。它刻于宋代，石像高5.63米，厚6.85米，宽8.01米，占地面积55平方米。由于它是我国现存最大，雕技最绝，年代最久的道教石雕造像，因此文史界人士戏称它为“老子天下第一”。倒也名符其实。生动逼真的造型，精美传神的韵味，夸张写意的.线条，质朴淳厚的内涵，天人合一的意境，使这尊老君石像显得格外亲切可爱，充满令人心驰神往、百看不厌的魅力。而最令人喜爱和赞叹的是，石刻老君的神态和蔼可亲，目光深邃而睿智，满脸笑容，豁达大度，平易近人，充满了一种温馨的人情味，一点也没有道貌岸然、威严凌厉神仙架势。同时，这尊老子石像还是健康长寿的象征。泉州有句方言：“摸到鼻，吃百二;摸到目，吃百六。”这是用我们闽南的方言讲的。意思是说，谁能摸到老君的鼻子，可以活上一百二，摸到眼睛呢，可以活上一百六。大家有兴趣可以去摸摸看。
